WILDLIFE, MYTH, AND THE SPIRIT OF THE WEST

Toby Putnam is a contemporary painter whose work explores memory, kinship, and our enduring relationship with the living world through a visual language rooted in the landscapes and traditions of the American West.

Working under the multidisciplinary studio practice +RAMBLINSONG+, Putnam creates contemporary Western folk art across painting, sculpture, and fine art prints. Drawing from mythic iconography, conservation, and folk traditions, his work blends bold graphic compositions with archetypal imagery to create pieces that feel both timeless and distinctly contemporary.

“LOVE IS THE ULTIMATE OUTLAW. IT JUST WON’T ADHERE TO ANY RULES. THE MOST ANY OF US CAN DO IS SIGN ON AS IT’S ACCOMPLICE.”
